Great food, wonderful pastries, prices are reasonable. Never had anything to omplai. about. I drove past this place for a year before trying it. It is easy to miss although it is on route 46. Glad I found it!!
Best bread and Italian pastries in town. There sandwiches and daily specials are always yummy as well!
Fresh bread daily and tasty pastries.
the ONLY place to get a sandwich. The bread is truly the star here. These folks can bake!! I'd eat a flip flop on their bread! But you don't have to. All of their foods are delicious, the roast beef, the Italian sub, the roasted turkey!! you cannot go worng, and gat a piece of carrot cake for desert.
Prices a little high but good food.
The best around. Been going there for years. Always good.. good prices for quality
You see, it's very simple. The ladies that make these sandwiches....they KNOW how to make sandwiches. I asked for a mortadella, salami and sharp provolone sang. I forgot to mention to please slice the meat thin. When I got to my office and opened up said sang, the mortadella was like...almost shaved, but not quite. The salami was sliced nicely thin and the whole damn sandwich as a whole put together they way I like it was EXPERTLY prepared! Besides the superior quality of the sandwich and of course the stellar bread, the pleasantness of the entire crew was also prominent. Love this place.
Their sandwiches are tasty and very generous when it comes to the amount of meat. I love their soups, very homemade like. As far as their bakery section, I haven't been too impressed in that dept.
Very friendly service, great homemade bread and bakery, Best sandwiches utilizing quality meats, cheeses, and of course their awesome housemade breads.
Great sandwiches and soups. I understand their lunches are excellent but haven't tried them yet.
Get the cheese steak sandwich! Dulce de leche cake is fantastic!
This place is INSANELY good. Start with the sandwiches. All fresh made on the best bread in New Jersey!
Get there early on the weekend if you do want some bread, because they do sell out of some types. The bread is so good that my relatives from other states always ask me to get some to bring when I visit. I highly recommend the peperoni bread.
Then there are the pastries. They are to die for. All your Italian favorites are here. I especially like the chocolate cannolis.
And don't miss the exceptional cakes. Their cakes are really the best I've ever had. The icing is heavenly, not overly sweet like you find in a lot of bakeries, just right. The baker also does a great job decorating the cakes, they always look beautiful.
If you're anywhere near Rockaway, stop in to Tony & Vinnies, you'll be happy you did.
I LOVE this place. I moved here from the west coast and spent the entire year that I lived in the area searching for the BEST cannoli (I literally ate a different cannoli every few weeks for a year). I found it here. They are consistently delicious. They shells are crisp, the filling has a great consistency, it has a nice ricotta taste, and it has the perfect amount of sweetness. The sandwiches, pastas, and lunch meals are also delicious.
This is where I ate my subs before going to a Devils preseason game. The food is great and awesome. The only downside is that if you come a bit late, the oven that serves hot subs will be turned off so you get cold subs. This place will survive even with Blockbuster closing down soon.
They have great pasties and cakes. I love getting sandwiches here because the bread is fantastic. So fresh. Crunchy on the outside chewy on the inside.
If I could give this place 10 stars, I would.
Tony and Vinnie's has THE BEST BREAD in the United States of America. I no longer live in the same state, but if I could bottle a place up and bring it with me, this would be it.
The pizza bread is magnificent, eat it cold or heat it up. You get a huge portion for like 6 dollars. There are spirals of cheese and your choice of sausage or pepperoni joining the poetry. The outer shell has crusted valleys and nooks, with just the right amount of cheese creeping out on top.
My fiancee would always get the mozzarella sandwich. They call it a sub roll, but it's really like french bread/baguette. It is the best, crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside bread we've ever tasted. All of their bread options are absolutely incredible. I could own an entire artichoke bread loaf right now if offered the chance. Their dessert items are also very reasonably priced. The cannolis are off the wall good.
They make the bread on premises and store it in these wooden cubbies, never in bags so the condensation makes it all soggy. If you're going to get a sandwich, I suggest you get the woman with short blonde hair to make one for you because she puts together a sandwich for you like she's your mom who wants to fatten you up. Awesome.
On the outskirts of a bustling Shoprite, next to a failed Blockbuster you'll find this gem cranking out some of the best italian bread, sandwiches and pastries you'll ever experience.
Place is easy to overlook. Must have past there 20 times before I saw the sign. Great subs on fresh sub rolls. One con is that the rolls should be thicker/wider, not like subway (the old Subway joke is "one foot long and 2 inches thick!). Macaroni & potato salads are not home made and contain preservatives. With a little work, If they made the rolls a little wider & made their own macaroni/potato salads (co'mon guys it's not that hard!) this place would be a perfect 5 stars.
The sign in the window says, "It's all about the bread."
We happened into this place on that dismal part of 46 that runs from Dover into Rockaway - past the tire places and the collision specialists, just before the ShopRite. Got a basic Italian hero that was really great. Well filled, good sharp provolone, and the bread was great. In the time to get one sandwich, at least 4 other people came in just for bread. And the service was quick.
Nice looking cookies and specials. Worth seeking out!
i go there twice a month for their sandwiches and olives and cookies. no complaints from me!
I love this place for the bread because it's so good. Also, the bakery selection is nice too. I usually get tempted while waiting for my sandwich and end up getting cannoli or sfogliatelle. I like the grilled chicken, pesto, sundried tomato sandwich and the fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers sandwich but it's hard to go wrong with anything you get. The eggplant parm is also yummy.
The staff is really nice. I don't know if Dan M. went in on a bad day, but there's an older lady who's always there when I go in and she's really sweet and helpful.
Tony & Vinnies is an excellent spot to pick up bread, a sandwich, or some baked goods. The bread always has a nice crust, with a soft inside. Whenever I get a sub, I typically get the #1. I have never had any of their hot sandwiches or their potato salad/macaroni salad etc, but I would assume they are good. They have realyl good cookies and canolis, but I think their best product is their bread.
This review is only for the pastries. I go to tony and Vinnies to buy Napoleon, cream puffs, & eclairs every holiday when my relatives come over. They absolutely go crazy for them. The service is pretty good and I've never been disappointed in the quality of food.
Great bakery. Staff are welcoming and friendly and the baked goods are amazing. Everything was fairly priced and I really enjoyed my visit. A must go to place if your ever in the area.
Some of the best bread in the world, and no I'm not kidding. This place has incredible bread. Quality and selection is great. Selection is better if you get there early. Don't let the empty strip mall fool you, this place is there for a reason. They're food is top-notch. Very cool place.
Everything in this bakery is delicious and the bread is made fresh every day!! Which means the subs there are amazing.
This is a review of their bread - one of the best in Morris county. Years ago, this was owned by a family group that, if memory serves, was related to the Calandra bakery legends. Everything they had was perfection. Italian, French, rolls and, best if all, artichoke bread - fantastic. We became loyal customers.
A few years ago, I think a new group took over but, so far, the bread quality has not varied. A happy situation.
They are a full service Italian-style deli but I have Sergio's in Denville for that so I can't judge anything but the bread.
If you are like me and love bread, this is a great bakery.
Really enjoyed cannoli's. Fresh and very good. I bought enough for our office, they were a big hit. Service was friendly, and place looked clean. They are apparently well known for their breads, so I plan on trying them for lunch soon.
awesome sandwiches!! Never busy like the other Italian delis in the area. Some of the best Italian bread I've had and I'm from longisland so that's saying a lot.
Best bread! We always get bread here if we're having company for Italian food. The artichoke loaf sliced is a favorite. We put some butter on the table with it and make sure to get the lasagne out there quick or the bread will be gone before we sit down to eat!
WOW... very good deserts and BREAD. I used to buy the bread at Shoprite, but stopped here since Shoprite ran out and wow, so fresh !
Really good cannolis and fresh bread. Usually a long line but moves quickly. They ran out of semolina bread, so I'll be back to try that!
OK - I can confirm the Bread was exceptional. I actually prefer the regular bread over the semolina. They sell this very nice Marinara Sauce in the job. Fairly priced! Will come back, if I'm around the neighborhood. Staff working there was actually polite and not arrogant.
Delicious sandwiches (don't forget about the hot options), very nice daily specials and soups, and really great pastries. You can also buy a few sauces and frozen pastas on site, and they make a few sodas as well.
Originally from Morris Plains, whenever I go home to visit friends and family, I stop by Tony & Vinnie's for their Italian pastries and pizza bread.
Sfogliatelle are my absolute favorite pastry (they were my grandfather's fave, too) and they can not be found, or even heard of, anywhere in Portland, OR, where I now live. For those that aren't familiar, they are a clam shaped pastry, the outside layered and crisp, filled with ricotta cheese mixed with a little powdered sugar and sometimes candid citrus, baked. Sprinkled with powdered sugar they are a delicious not-too-sweet desert. Even better when warmed in the oven! Some say they are the same as a Lobster Claw; they are not. Lobster claws have a light airy cream custard inside; Sfogliatelle have a baked ricotta filling similar to the Italian sweet Easter pie.
The day I arrive, I buy some to enjoy immediately, then come back on my last day and buy a dozen to bring home. They pack them for me without the added powdered sugar. When I get home, I freeze them individually so I can enjoy at anytime and share with friends that are "sfogiatelle" worthy.
Their cannoli is also delicious! Crispy shells that are filled with creamy ricotta, again mixed with powdered sugar. Love the cannoli shells dipped in dark chocolate first, then stuffed.
Their cheesy pepperoni bread is divine. A loaf quite large and only $6. Delicious room temperature, even better warmed in the oven. Great to serve as part of an appetizer tray or with an Italian meal.
As others have mentioned, the bread is top notch, crispy on the outside and chewy inside. A true old fashioned recipe that is enjoyed by many generations. Once I ordered a Turkey Sloppy Joe, another item that is not available or even known in Portland! Their version is good, made with Boars Head meat and cheese. Ask for extra Russian Dressing!
Located on Route 46 in a little strip of shops to the west of Shoprite, one could drive by every single day and not know it's there unless someone told you. I'm telling you! So make a point to stop by and load up on pastries and bread.
My favorite Italian pastry in the area. Delicious and always fresh. Not always the friendliest young lady behind the counter but the pastry makes up for it.
I used to pass this place all the time but decided to stop in to get some cookies and left with sandwiches and wayyy to many pastries for any one person to eat. I try and go here at least every other week for a prosciutto sandwich or a hot dish.
Lots of Meat
The sandwiches here are stuffed with whatever meat you order. It is probably 4 to 5 times the amount of meat that you would get on a sandwich from Subway. Very reasonable prices as well.
Tony & Vinnies Italian Bakery & Deli is DELICIOUS!
One word...DELICIOUS!!! They have the best bread I've ever had. I even have to buy extra when relatives from out of state come to visit because they always ask for some to take home with them.
Great food and great service. They have 4 specials everyday check Facebook.
I like their breakfast and lunch sandwiches. I have ordered in store as well as for catering. They are a bit on the pricier side but always tasty
Wonderful service!! The staff and employees are wonderful and caring!!
Great bakery. Friendly staff.
Stopped by yesterday for lunch. First time I ever set foot in this hole in the wall. The question is will I be back? And the answer is 'YES'. These guys make great deli sandwiches and as they use bread that's over the top.
Totally recommend this place! Pastries, bread, breakfast sandwiches, cold sandwiches, salads! They have the freshest and most delicious food..let's not forget about the bold coffee! 5 stars for them. Keep up the good work!
Interesting to have a deli and bakery in one area.
Expertly prepared Italian style food made in one of the cleanest kitchens I have seen. The lunch specials are an exceptional value at $9, see attached image of this week's roast beef and provolone. Also consider purchasing a cannoli while here, I highly recommend them.
Good bakery! We always buy our dough from them when we are making homemade pizza! They have great dough! Dough is so important, and the foundation of pretty much everything at a bakery! If the dough isn't good the food isn't good, bottom line! Our pizza always turns out delicious! Also while I'm there I pick up some desserts for the adults, which are always tasty! And I get some of their big, cute cupcakes for my nieces and nephews, which they love so much!
